Comments anyone?

It came to my attention this weekend that there are more people than just my parents that are keeping up with "The Mills" by reading my blog. I am glad that you are out there "checking up on me" but I didn't even know it so that leads to my request for today. If you will look at the bottom of this post there is a line that says "tell me what you think (0 comments)" Why does it always say ZERO comments? I know that the people that are reading this are for the most part people with opinions and things to say so why don't you leave me a comment and let me know that you've been here? Thank you.

Now on to the important stuff. We have finally, officially moved EVERYTHING that we own under one roof! Although the last of the stuff should probably go directly into the trash it will not because there could be something in one of those boxes that I might need someday. There could be!!! I am just hoping that we left all of the mice in the previous storage area. Our house is currently mouse, roach, bug and ant free and I would like to keep it that way. We do however recently have a family of salamanders residing in our bathroom. I do not like them (even if they are kindof cute) because they scurry! I can't stand any animal that scurries or moves so fast that it could possibly run up my leg, arm or back. That's all for today. . .Don't forget to leave a comment.

Splendor in the grass

Taken this morning in our front yard. Followed by a scrub bath and hydrocortizone cream (last time she was in the grass she had a rash for 2 days). I hope she doesn't breakout this time, but it was worth the risk for some great pictures. These will be her official 7 month old pictures. Mia will be 8 months on the 29th, but I try to take her monthly photo at the end of the month.

5 random things . . .

Someone started a blog challenge today and it was to post 5 random things about yourself that most people don't know so here goes:

1. I only like certain kinds of ice. I HATE the kind that comes out of most refrigerators (the moon shaped kind) because it always freezes back together in one clump and then while you are drinking it ALL comes sliding out and hits me in the nose and gets stuff all over my shirt. I LOVE Sonic ice (or rabbit pellet ice as my friend Rachel calls it) and my favorite is the kind that is really flaky and comes out of the ice machine in thin sheets. It is almost like a slush. That along with a good Dr. Pepper will always make my day!

2. I can rarely make it through a meal without some of the meal landing on my shirt. It is actually my best talent. No matter how I am dressed or where or what kind of food it is some piece of it will land on my shirt. EVERY TIME.

3. I can only sleep to my husband's left. You know how most people sleep with the man closest to the bedroom door. . .we tried that when we moved into our new house. I can't sleep on his right. I didn't sleep for 3 nights until we switched. Talk about neurotic!

4. I can not throw away a magazine. It doesn't matter how many pictures are already cut out of it or if it is practically falling apart. I might need it!

5. I don't like eating off paper plates. Especially if the food is saucy (like spaghetti) or cheesy. You can never get that last little bit of cheese off of a paper plate like you can a ceramic one.

Now you know 5 things about me you probably never wanted to know. It's your turn to share.

Finished a page!!

These pictures were just screaming to be scrapped! This was such a fun page to make. I love the colors and fun papers and the hibiscus stamp. The blue accent on the picture of the 2 girls says "girlfriends" Isn't that adorable. I used a tag that I had cut out of my bathing suit and added a few words so it says "super cute swimwear" (lower left corner of the center picture). Fun, Fun, Fun layout to make. I couldn't help but share it here. I hope you enjoyed seeing it.

Her teeth are killing us. . .

Mia is teething. It has to be her teeth or some evil spirit has possessed my sweet little girl. She is so hard to deal with right now I am about to pull my hair out. This past weekend was definitely the worst it has ever been since the first night we came home from the hospital. Saturday night it took Saylor and I both holding her down just to get her diaper changed and then she screamed and babbled (like she was cussing us out) for about 20 mins. Then I remembered the Ibupropen. What a change. Needless to say we have kept her on it since and she is like a different child. I am ready for that tooth to come in already! Saylor took off work yesterday and I got the whole afternoon to go do whatever I wanted all-by-myself. I feel great today. I even worked out!

Do I have too?

I was watching the movie "Parenthood" today and there is a line that never really affected me before. . . . Steve Martin says "My whole life is have too." Boy do I feel like that recently. I have to change the diaper. I have to feed the baby. I have to get up at the crack of dawn because Mia is ready to get up. I have to vacuum the living room. I have to clean the kitchen. I have to pay the bills. I have to work-out. I have to take out the trash. I have to mow the lawn. . .No wait Saylor does that one. Isn't it ironic that when you're a kid and have the time to do anything you want your parents won't let you and when you're an adult and are allowed to do anything you want you don't have the time. Right now if I could have anything I want it would be a vacation. Just me and my husband and NO HAVE TO's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On that note, tonight I GET to go out to dinner. That will keep me going through the next week of have to's.

Jumping on board. . .

Some of the Garden Girls from 2peas have started a photo a day challenge. I love this idea! I can't wait to compile all the photos into an album with a simple caption under each picture. A visual record of our year. What a great idea! I have set up a separate blog for my pictures that can be accessed directly or through a link on this page (top right). I am excited to see what I choose as my photo inspiration each day. In the meantime check out these photo of the day sites:
Ali Edwards
Tracy Miller
Tara Whitney-Amazing photographer

Keep checking back to see our life in pictures. I'm sure our life is so exciting you can't wait!

Trapped. . .

Last night while Saylor was on the computer. . .

Then she got upset because she couldn't get out. Very funny, but I had to rescue her. I hope she isn't traumatized because I laughed so hard watching her try to get out.

AND. . . . . . .
I went on a delivery with Saylor this weekend to Laredo. It is a loooooooooooong way! For all my hard work (sitting in the passenger seat) I got rewarded with these super cool iron pumpkins. I can't wait for fall so I can put them out. I haven't decided where to put them yet, but I know on Halloween they go out in the yard with orange and black candles. Can't wait. I love fall.

Soakin' up the Sun. . .

Mia and I went to the pool today with some friends. Mia and Emory were so cute in their bikinis!!!! I couldn't resist a pic of the ruffled baby bottoms. Adorable. It was almost impossible to get a picture of them together without one trying to crawl off so here are the best two I got. They will love these when their 15. I hope they will still be friends. When had a great time at the pool. Too bad summer is almost over.

Caught. . . .

CAUGHT.....

Yesterday I caught Mia playing in my fabric collection. I keep it in 3 stackable canvas trays and she had pulled about half of it out and was shaking it and chewing on it. The blue with the pink roses seemed to be her favorite. It's from a balloon outfit my mom made me in 7th grade. Remember those? Can you believe at one time in my life I ACTUALLY purposely dressed in clothing with the word BALLOON in the name? Anyway, Mia seems to have found her new favorite toy.

Mia loves her Cheerios. . . .

Mia loves her Cheerios

This keeps her busy for a long time

Most of them get eaten and the others end up on the floor

She gets excited and laughs when I put more on the table for her

And one more. . . . Have a great weekend!!!

Before and After?. . . .

June 2005 Father's Day Bar-B-Q

August 2002 at my wedding shower

I would love to say these are my before and after pictures but they are not. Actually in a way they are. One was taken BEFORE getting married and having a baby and the other was taken AFTER. :)
I am using these as motivation. I was shocked to see these two pictures of myself side by side. I really don't feel like I look that different, but here is proof that I do. I know I can change this and hope to be posting more current before and after photos some day soon.

And in other news: Mia had her 6 month Dr. appointment today. She weighed 16 lbs. 2.5 ozs. and she is 26 3/4 inches long. She had her shots and got a prescription for her cold symptoms. The doctor wanted to know if she had been pushing with her feet trying to crawl. I told her that Mia had been crawling for almost 2 months and that she can pull herself up to standing now. The Dr.'s mouth dropped open. "Already?" she said. "Most babies don't start trying until 9 months, she is way ahead on her developmental milestones." I also told her that she can crawl up and down the step in our living room and her words were. . . "you're in trouble, mom." What does that mean? Do I have some abnormal super child on my hands? I don't think so. I think she just has alot of energy and she is impatient and ready to start running in circles around me.*

Cute book cover for dieting inspiration. . .

This is the cover of a journal I made to keep all of my diet info in. I tend to be more honest on a diet if I write down what I eat so that will go in here and also my weekly weight and any other info like receipes or websites etc. I started my diet yesterday and so far so good. 32 hours and counting. I've heard if you can do something for 14 days it becomes a habit so 13 1/2 days and this diet thing will be a breeze. I knew if I had a great book to write my stuff in I would be happier about dieting. I thought I would share it. The small writing around the "C" says "Don't give up what you want most for what you want right now" and "If you do what you've always done you'll get what you always got" How very true. To my dieting buddies out there (you know who you are) good luck! We're going to do it!!!!

Lazy Day

Today was a lazy day. To tell you the truth Mia is still in her pajamas. I am not, but do jogging pants and a T-shirt really count as getting dressed? I didn't do anything today. Actually I haven't felt like doing much of anything recently. I'm feeling pretty blah. It's a never ending cycle. I bought peanut butter cookies yesterday because they called to me and said " I'll make you feel better" so now that I've eaten 7 today (they weren't big. . . stop judging!!!!) I just feel worse and even more BLAH! I am glad that tomorrow is Saturday and that I just heard the front door open which means Saylor is home. Got to go!

Caution, Ranting and Raving Ahead. . .

O.k. I just have to share my complaints today about people in general. I just came from Wal-Mart (that should be enough explanation). Actually for once the people that worked there were very nice, helpful and courteous. It is the customers I am totally irritated with. What happened to the golden rule and just simply being nice to each other. No less than 5 times I almost got plowed over by someone else with a shopping cart and this was while I had the "right-of-way" and after I said "I'm sorry, excuse me" I got the dirty looks. This goes for people standing in the aisle too. There were two different women who were completely blocking the aisle and not about to move until they were done so I paitiently waited until they moved. There was a old man that was standing in the aisle waiting on his wife and he looked right at me and didn't move so I said "excuse me" and he grunted and barely moved over. I ran into the shelves because he didn't move over enough. Then he had the nerve to laugh at me. CAN YOU BELIEVE PEOPLE? When did people decide that they are the only ones that matter and that everyone else should get the heck out of their way???!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't even mentioned the lady in the parking lot that was driving down the MIDDLE of the row and I ran over a curb trying to not get hit!!!! Let's just say that today was a good day to stay at home. I wish I had.

Sorry for that, but I just had to get it out. I hope everyone else has a better day.

6 months ago today. . .

At this exact time she was born. It is so hard to believe that 6 months have flown by already. In 6 short months Mia has learned these things:

  • to smile
  • to hold her head up
  • to laugh
  • to roll over
  • to sit up
  • to crawl
  • to eat cheerios by herself
  • to play with the remote control
  • to find any magazine in the house and shred it
  • to blow zerberts (sp?)
  • to find her pacifier and put it in her mouth (usually upside down)
  • to bounce in her swing
  • to throw a screaming hissy fit

And last but not least to make us unable to imagine life without her.

Happy 1/2 birthday Mia!!!

Beach baby, beach baby. . . Don't eat the sand!!!!

Saturday Mia and I went with our good friend Lindsey to the beach club. It is basically a swimming pool surrounded by sand. Very Cool. Mia loved it. She loved eating the sand too. Mia loves the water, but not so much when she has missed a nap. After about 20 mins. she was ready to go and after falling over and getting her hat all wet. . . . . .
she was REALLY ready to go. At least we were there long enough for Lindsey and I to get a little sun. Too bad something went wrong with my camera memory card and all I got was these 2 pictures (which are not very good) but at least I got some.

It's GONE!!!!

You want to hear an interesting story? Here goes:

Yesterday was a trying day. You know, the kind you are not sure you will make it through. Well, I knew I wouldn't make it through without prayer. As I began to pray the television (which was on ABC) began having "technical difficulties" complete with the beeping and voice over explanation. As I reached the point in my prayer where I said "God, please be with us and help us. . ." someone knocked on my door. Just great, Mia was crying, I had been crying and I'm sure it was our neighbor checking to see if we watered his grass while he was gone out of state. Speaking of states, I was in no state to see anyone, but I answered the door. It was two men wanting to buy our pickup.

Now, if you have seen our pickup this is where you will begin to understand God's hand in this whole thing. If you haven't let me explain. Our pick-up has a few dents in it. Actually it has a few spots that DON'T have dents in it. It has transmission problems and more, plus it was parked in our driveway behind the house. These guys had to have driven down the alley to even see it. They explained they were from south Texas (how did they find us?) and would pay us cash if we would sell it to them right now. While I was talking with them Saylor called and I told him what was going on and he talked to the guy and made a deal over the phone. Within 20 minutes they were gone and so was the pickup.

Now do you think God was watching over us or do you think that was just a coincidence? I am sure that God was there, just as he always is.

One sleepy little girl . . .

Sunday we spent the afternoon with some good friends relaxing in the pool, and vistiting while waiting for the B-B-Q ribs. We had a great time!!! Mia was so exhausted. She fell asleep on the way home and I got these great pictures of her "hanging on." She didn't let go of the rings even as we tried to take her out of her seat. After a long afternoon in the sun Mia was one sleepy little girl.
